Assessing Training Sessions is supposed to be a routine process followed to prove effectiveness of a training program & in a way that of the organiser. For me, as someone who organises training sessions assessing the sessions serves multiple purposes. It is definitely a measure of how good a training program was, but more importantly is a measure of how relevant it was. Since every training program is a result of a training need, whether the need has been met or not is of utmost importance. I have to admit, in order to find out this simple thing there are numerous things that I end up doing, which form a part of the process called "Training Assessment". Training is an elaborate function & if one wishes to, she could go on working on finer details about assessing training programs, identifying gaps, calculating return on investment & so on.
For now, an evaluation of the participants who attend the Training, feedback about the training & the trainer & an Impact assessment seems to serve my purpose. But ofcourse, the closure happens only when there is no retraining required & a fair number of participants agree to have been benefitted out of it.
